Driver Education

Driver Education is a 16-hour course. Ten hours are classroom instruction hours, and six hours are behind-the-wheel driving. Our classroom instruction is typically completed in two to three sessions.

The behind-the-wheel instruction is done on a one-on-one basis; the instructor and one student. For students living in Tulsa, we provide free pick up and drop off for the driving part of the instruction. Students perform three 2 hour drives to complete the 6 hours.

Students may take Driver Education anytime after their 15th birthday; however, they must be 15 ½ before they can get their permit.

The course content includes a review of: The Oklahoma Driving Manual, Defensive Driving Techniques, Attitude Behind the Wheel, Zero tolerance for Drinking and Driving, the IPDE process of driving, as well as current video presentations, and, often a quest speaker.

Total cost of the course – $375 (Cash, check, or credit card.  A convenience fee of 3% will be added to all credit card transactions).  Upon completion, students do receive two certificates: Driver Education and MVAPC for Defensive Driving.

Private Lessons are behind the wheel instruction. These lessons are scheduled on an individual basis. Fee: $50 per hour.

Greater Tulsa Driving School is now offering the Drive Test at our facility.  To schedule your drive test appointment, please call (918) 461-0881.

  1. I’ve been trying to call to set up a road test for my daughter but I’m struggling to get in touch with anyone.

    • Good morning,
I apologize for that. Any calls made over the weekend will be returned on Monday. Once again, I’m very sorry for the inconvenience and we would be happy to help you.
If you would text (918)576-1053 and be sure you identify yourself and your child’s name, and Danny will get back with you as soon as ye can (he teaches school during the day).
Thank you so much and we appreciate your patience.
Please, don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any other needs.

  2. Needing to scheduled for daughter for the road test

  3. Are the only days to schedule the one-on-one sessions only available on the weekends? Or can I schedule on a week day as well?

  4. If you lose your permit and can’t get a new one before the driving test do you bring the receipt showing that you did get one?

  5. I have the copy of the temporary permit receipt where, like my permit would have. Is that ok to bring to the test?
